Confident ECG Interpretation

This is a two-part course. Attendees MUST participate in both parts.

March 4th, 2022 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. MST

&

March 11th, 2022 8:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. MST


COURSE OVERVIEW

This course will provide a review of basic 12-lead ECG interpretation skills. The course is designed to enhance ECG interpretation skills for the purpose of practice improvement, and facilitated by the cardiologists from the University of Calgary Cardiac Sciences. 


LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of this course, when reviewing a patient’s 12-lead ECG, learners will be equipped to:

  • correctly determine rate, rhythm and axis on ECG
  • diagnose left and right ventricular hypertrophy on ECG
  • identify findings suggestive of ischemia on ECG
  • correctly diagnose myocardial infarction on ECG including whether acute, subacute or old
  • accurately diagnose atrial and ventricular tachyarrhythmias
  • identify bradycardia
  • identify pacemaker activity on ECG and determine if pacemaker function appears normal
  • identify ST and T wave changes seen in common non-cardiac presentations such as: pulmonary embolism, electrolyte abnormalities, drug effect and CNS events
