Join us for the Practical Evidence for Informed Practice Conference (PEIP) on October 19-20, 2018 in Edmonton, Alberta. The PEIP Conference is a multidisciplinary event that showcases relevant, evidence-based, and thought-provoking topics in health care. PEIP highlights focused review that combine evidence, experience, and patient values, and is applicable to a variety of disciplines including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other allied health care providers.

Features in 2018:

  • No travel, no accommodations, same great learning! PEIP 2018 is also offered via live webcast for those who prefer to learn from home (or office).
  • TWO pre-conference opportunities:
  • OATs Aren't Just for Breakfast:Treating Opioid Use Disorder in Primary Care
Led by Dr. Christy Sutherland (of inner-city Vancouver harm reduction sites), this workshop focuses on strategies for identifying and evaluating patients in your practice with opioid use disorder (OUD), implementing and initiating therapy including opioid agonist therapies (OAT), and providing ongoing treatment in a primary care setting. This workshop aims to inform participants of best practices and local resources that will allow them to optimize care for patients with opioid use disorder. Participants will also enjoy the opportunity to learn from local family physician leaders in the field during this three-hour pre-conference workshop. Register early as space is limited.
  • Information Session: Collaborative Mentorship Network for Chronic Pain and Addiction
Under the Primary Health Care Opioid Response Initiative (PHC ORI), the ACFP is developing a Collaborative Mentorship Network that supports family physicians in building confidence and capacity when treating patients with chronic pain and addiction. Mentees and mentors will be paired geographically for local context and will participate in 1:1 mentoring and small groups that are zone based. This free-of-charge, facilitated feedback session will provide the opportunity to gather more information, provide input that will shape the development of the network, and get involved. Register early as space is limited.
