DESCRIPTION

Kingston Community Health Centres (KCHC), are looking for a salaried full-time physician to work in Napanee, Ontario.  KCHC is a community based, non-profit organization, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services. We belong to a network of provincial community health centres.

 

Working as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team, the physician delivers high quality primary care and promotes healthy lifestyle choices for clients, the Physician will provide primary health care to clients, using an approach that is client-centred and non-judgmental, and taking into account psychological and medical risk factors and the social determinants of health.

 

The Physician will act as health advocate and make effective use of health care resources (e.g. consultants, hospital facilities, Telemedicine) to benefit the client as well as provide consultation for clients and support to the Primary Health Care team, as required.

 

Napanee provides a plethora of year-round outdoor activities including many lakes, forests and wetlands to kayak, x-country sky, hike and explore. A surprising number of arts and naturalist groups abound. Relatively inexpensive land and housing provide ample opportunities for comfortable living for families and singles. A short 30 minute drive to Kingston provides urban amenities like fine dining, shopping and significant arts and cultural attractions. A 90 minute drive gets one to Toronto and the big city attractions therein.

 

COMPENSATION

This competitive salaried position provides an excellent compensation and benefits package, including the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) and professional development and educational opportunities.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification in Family Medicine by the College of Family Physicians (CCFP)
  • Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is in good standing
  • Three years’ experience providing primary care and experience working in a community health setting – strong asset
  • Experience providing obstetrical care (asset)
  • Experience with Quality Improvement (asset)
  • Knowledge of management of clients with addictions and mental health diagnosis
