The Society for Rural Physicians of Canada was recently awarded $100,000
from the HIV/AIDS Small Grants Competition of the Canadian Society of
International Health funded by CIDA. The SRPC proposal was one of twenty
selected from a field of 181.
The two year project, Strengthening STI/HIV Management in Pakistan, partners
SRPC with a Pakistani NGO, Frontier Primary Health Care working in the North
West Frontier Province near the Khyber Pass. A comprehensive program of
staff training and provision of equipment in 30 government and private
health units serving 600,000 people will be supported by community
mobilization and health education of community and religious leaders.
Health education and STI training materials will be developed and piloted in
English and Pushto. |
