The mountain community of Crowsnest Pass, Alberta is seeking to recruit a GP-A and a GP-S to complement our medical team. Our GP-A will soon be retiring, and in addition we are seeking to add a GP-S to bolster our C-section coverage.

We are a community of 10 family physicians providing full spectrum rural Primary Care, supported by a local General Surgeon, as well as visiting GI, Orthopedics and Gynecology. Our operating room operates 16 days a month.

The community is in the Rocky Mountains, close to the BC border, with two world class ski hills (Fernie and Castle Mountain) within a 40 minute drive, and a small family oriented ski hill in town. The physician group is lifestyle focused and takes advantage of the numerous outdoor activities available, including a large network of mountain biking trails, cross-country ski trails, fly fishing and hiking. The group is active in teaching both residents and students from the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta.

    Located in central Canada, slightly north-east of the city of Winnipeg and in the heart of Manitoba's scenic lake country, the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA) covers an area of 61,000 km2. One of the largest health regions in the Province of Manitoba, IERHA extends east to the Ontario border, north to the 53rd parallel, west to the eastern shores of Lake Manitoba, and south to just past Winnipeg. The Region serves a population of approximately 124,000 residents, including 17 First Nations and 24 Metis communities representing 22% of the area's population. The population grows extensively in the summer months with cottagers, campers and others who come to enjoy this 'cottage country' and its abundance of lakes, beaches, forests and other natural areas.

    Job Duties:

    The Physician will perform all duties associated with a busy family practice, including co-ordinating primary patient care, examining and advising patients, ordering diagnostic procedures, prescribing and administering medications and treatments, providing inpatient and outpatient care, 24-hour on- call emergency department coverage (up to 6 times per month), and Personal Care Home services.

    As a fee-for-service independent practitioner, the Family Physician will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team in providing health care services to the Region, including inpatient care, outpatient care, clinic services, emergency department work and care in personal care homes. The Physician will also participate in the delivery of medical services at the Hunter Memorial Hospital in Teulon on an as-needed basis. The Physician will maintain full-time clinic hours and be available on site not less than four days per week.

    In keeping with the philosophy of care that has been established within IERHA, the Physician will promote and expand primary health care with a focus on the delivery of a continuum of comprehensive and coordinated services in response to the needs of the community. As such, the Physician is a key member of the networks and teams of health professionals responsible for providing an integrated system of health services accessible on a 24/7 basis, complete with admitting privileges and where on-call coverage is shared on a rotational basis requiring the Physician to provide 24-hour emergency department on call coverage up to 6 times per month. The Physician also has the opportunity to play large leadership roles, including participation on the Community Health Committee; to engage in continuing medical education activities and mandatory training; to participate in special projects; to assist with recruitment; to provide clinical advice in such areas as standards of practice and care, and; to lead the education, supervision and evaluation of medical students, residents and other health care professionals.

    The Candidates (skills/education requirements):

    IERHA is deeply patient-centered, in an environment of mutual respect, courtesy, collegiality and strong community support and engagement. As a result, the successful candidate is a confident physician leader focused on family medicine, with strong clinical and acute care skills who values practicing in a team-based environment, and who is interested in contributing to the creation of new delivery models.

    The Physician will be required to work independently and will be solely responsible for the full range of patient care in the Emergency Department and on the wards during on-call shifts or in the absence of other on-site providers. As such, relevant and sufficient emergency and minor surgery experience is required.

    The successful candidate must hold a medical degree and hold, or be eligible for, immediate certification with the Medical Council of Canada. The successful candidate must hold, or be eligible for, immediate registration and licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba and satisfy the appropriate requirements for Medical Privileges with the IERHA. They must also have, or obtain, CMPA or equivalent coverage. The IERHA expects the chosen candidate to commit to reside in Stonewall or the surrounding area and to provide medical services as referenced above for a minimum of three years. A formal Return of Service agreement will be required.

    Qualified candidates who currently have a Return of Service in another community or with another Regional Health Authority or who have previously chosen to pay out their obligation under a ROS agreement, or have not fulfilled a previous ROS agreement, will be considered ineligible.

    Compensation:

    Remuneration will be on a fee-for-service basis, with an income guarantee of $144.90/hour (if no CCPF designation) or $158.48/hour (if CCFP designation), for the first 6 months of practice based on average hourly earnings each month. The income guarantee will apply to a maximum of 8 hours/day, 5 days/week for services provided at the clinic, emergency department, Personal Care Home and for inpatient services during regular office hours. The income guarantee does not apply to emergency department work after hours, on weekends or on holidays.

    The Physician will remain self-employed and no employee or other benefits will be provided by the IERHA.

    Once the physician has an efficient and established practice, it is anticipated that with increased patient numbers, gross earnings will be in excess of CAD$255,031 per annum going forward.

    A relocation reimbursement is offered for eligible expenses incurred within 12 months of relocation, to a maximum of CAD$40,000 and is conditional on the Physician signing a 3-year Return of Service agreement.

    The rate of overhead is set by the local Physician group and is currently a maximum of $4200 per month.

    Family Physicians, Upper River Valley, New Brunswick

    Horizon Health Network is actively seeking full time family physicians with the rural Family Medicine team of the Upper River Valley Region in western New Brunswick. The successful applicants will have the responsibilities of office practice and in-patient care of their own practice patients.

    The candidates will be required to follow the care of their patients upon admission to the Upper River Valley Hospital, will need to be in possession of adequate credentials to obtain medical staff hospital privileges, and are also encouraged to participate in the hospital's Emergency Medicine roster or the Obstetrics roster.

    Canadian or Permanent Residents already holding a New Brunswick medical license or Canadian College of Family Physicians certification (CCFP) or eligibility, preferred.     Seeking two full-time permanent family physicians in Prince Edward Island, Canada

    Health PEI is seeking two full-time permanent salaried (37.5 hours per week) Family Physicians for the Harbourside Health Centre located in the City of Summerside, PEI. Harbourside Health Centre has a collaborative team of health care professionals including family physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, diabetes educators, licensed practical nurses, a community registered dietitian, and clerical staff.

    Summerside is known as a small city with big ambition, big ideas, and big opportunities, and is home to the Prince County Hospital (PCH) which was built in 2004 and has 110 beds. Summerside also has the beautiful facility, Credit Union Place, Eastern Canada's most state-of-the art recreation, sport, entertainment, and meeting place. Summerside is conveniently located 25 kms from the Confederation Bridge and 60 kms from the Island’s capital city, Charlottetown. Summerside is a great place to raise a family.

    Job duties: This is a family medicine collaborative care practice. The physician shall be responsible to cover hospital inpatients and participate in an on-call schedule at the Prince County Hospital, a 110 bed acute care referral hospital. The Physician will be required to possess hospital privileges at the Prince County Hospital. This practice offers an excellent work/life balance.

    Family Physician - Grand Manan Island, NB

    A unique opportunity for a family physician with emergency medicine training and/or experience with the Department of Family Medicine, Saint John. We are actively seeking Family Physicians to share an existing practice on Grand Manan Island, NB and provide on call coverage to the hospital after hours and on weekends.
    Grand Manan is the largest island in the Bay of Fundy connected by a 90 minute ferry ride from Black’s Harbour, NB. Grand Manan Hospital serves an island population of 2,500 which grows to 5,000 during the summer months. Its economy is mainly dependent on fishing, aquaculture and tourism. www.grandmanannb.com
    Grand Manan Hospital has ten beds and provides the following services: 24/7 Emergency, Interdisciplinary Primary Care, Outpatient Specimen Collection, Pediatrics, Telehealth consultation and Teleradiology, with 5,100 annual emergency department visits. It is part of Horizon Health Network – Saint John area. Patients arriving at the hospital who require complex investigative services, specialized services (childbirth) or critical care are transferred by ground via ferry or air ambulance to the tertiary hospital in Saint John.

    The candidate will work with two full time family physicians and a nurse practitioner to provide these services and participate in after hours/weekend call on rotation. Family Medicine physicians may be part of the Family Medicine teaching program affiliated with Dalhousie University Medical School postgraduate and a satellite undergraduate program.
    Canadian College of Family Physicians certification preferred, but consideration will be given to other North American qualifications and training.     DescriptionAmenity Health Care operates integrated health clinics, using independent pharmacies as the nucleus for expanded practices.  We are seeking two full-time family physicians for the family/walk-in clinic run out of Taylor Pharmacy in Gimli, Manitoba.  In addition to a core practice of clinic, acute-care and longer term care at the Taylor Pharmacy clinic (Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day, minimum 25 patients per day), each physician will also be responsible for up to 6 shifts per month at the Johnson Memorial Hospital (inpatient wards), as well as on-call emergency room coverage.
    The Taylor Pharmacy clinic provides walk-in and by-appointment medical services to the community of Gimli and surrounding area. The physician will perform all duties associated with a busy family practice, including coordinating primary patient care, examining and advising patients, ordering diagnostic procedures, prescribing and administering medications and treatments.
    Johnson Memorial Hospital is a 26 bed acute care facility.  Services offered to the facility are Diagnostic, Emergency, Public Health, Mental Health, and Home Care Services.
    Gimli is located in the heart of Manitoba’s Interlake region, on the west shore of Lake Manitoba. The rural municipality is home to a population of approximately 5,800 and hosts numerous vacationing families during the summer months. Gimli is located only 55 minutes north of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
    The chosen candidates agree to establish a medical practice in Gimli, MB and to provide medical services as referenced above for a minimum period of four years.

    Located in central Canada, slightly north-east of the city of Winnipeg and in the heart of Manitoba’s scenic lake country, the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA) covers an area of 61,000 km2. One of the largest health regions in the Province of Manitoba, IERHA extends east to the Ontario border, north to the 53rd parallel, west to the eastern shores of Lake Manitoba, and south to just past Winnipeg. The Region serves a population of approximately 124,000 residents, including 17 First Nations and 24 Metis communities representing 22% of the area’s population. The population grows extensively in the summer months with cottagers, campers and others who come to enjoy this ‘cottage country’ and its abundance of lakes, beaches, forests and other natural areas.
    Job Duties The Physician will perform all duties associated with a busy family practice, including co-ordinating primary patient care, examining and advising patients, ordering diagnostic procedures, prescribing and administering medications and treatments, providing inpatient and outpatient care, 24-hour ER coverage (up to 7 times per month), and Personal Care Home services.
    As a contract or fee-for-service practitioner, the Family Physician will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team in providing health care services to the Region, including inpatient care, clinic services, emergency department work and care in personal care homes in the surrounding communities. The Physician will participate in the Region’s Nurse Managed Care initiative, as well as in the delivery of primary care and PCH services on a part-time/as-needed basis in Whitemouth and Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba. The Physician will maintain full-time Clinic hours and be available on site not less than four days per week.
    In keeping with the philosophy of care that has been established within IERHA, the Physician will promote and expand primary health care with a focus on the delivery of a continuum of comprehensive and coordinated services in response to the needs of the community. As such, the Physician is a key member of the networks and teams of health professionals responsible for providing an integrated system of health services accessible on a 24/7 basis, complete with admitting privileges and where on-call coverage is shared on a rotational basis requiring the Physician to provide 24-hour ER coverage up to 7 times per month.
    The Physician also has the opportunity to play large leadership roles, including participation on the Community Health Committee; to engage in continuing medical education activities and mandatory training; to participate in special projects; to provide clinical advice in such areas as standards of practice and care, and; to lead the education, supervision and evaluation of medical students and other health care professionals.
    The Candidates (Skills/Education Requirements)IERHA is deeply patient-centered, in an environment of mutual respect, courtesy, collegiality and strong community support and engagement. As a result, the successful candidate is a confident physician leader with strong clinical and acute care skills developed over several years (minimum 3 years) in a GP environment, who values practicing in a team-based environment, and who is interested in contributing to the creation of new delivery models.
    The Physician will be required to work independently and will be solely responsible for the full range of patient care in the Emergency Department and on the wards during on-call shifts or in the absence of other on-site providers. As such, relevant and sufficient emergency and minor surgery experience is required.
    The successful candidate must hold a medical degree and hold, or be eligible for, immediate certification with the Medical Council of Canada. They must also be a member of, or be eligible for immediate membership in, the College of Family Physicians of Canada and hold, or be eligible for, CCFP certification. As well, the successful candidate must hold, or be eligible for, immediate registration and licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba and satisfy the appropriate requirements for Medical Privileges with the IERHA. They must also have, or obtain, CMPA or equivalent coverage. The IERHA expects the chosen candidate to commit to reside in Pinawa or the surrounding area and to provide medical services as referenced above for a minimum of five years. A formal Return of Service agreement will be required.
    Qualified candidates who currently have a Return of Service in another community or with another Regional Health Authority or who have previously chosen to pay out their obligation under a ROS agreement, will be considered ineligible.
    CompensationAt the option of the Physician, the position will be compensated on either a Contract or Fee-for-Service basis. In either case, the Physician will remain self-employed and no employee benefits will be provided by the IERHA.
    If the Contract option is selected, the mechanism of payment will be in accordance with the Rural, Brandon & Northern Independent Contractor GP Agreement. Under this arrangement, it is expected that the Physician will see approximately 20 patients/day. This would result in annual income of minimum CAD$250,210 based on 40 hours/week, 44 weeks per year. ER and PCH On-Call responsibilities are compensated fee-for-service in addition to this and consistent with the Manitoba Health and Doctors’ Manitoba Agreement, based on a stipend of $753.30 per 24-hours on weekdays and $1183.90 on weekend days and General holidays.
    If the Fee-for-Service option is selected, the IERHA will provide the Physician with an income guarantee of CAD$22,000 per month from all sources in the first year of practice when clinic hours are maintained 4 days per week and full ER coverage is provided. It is anticipated that, going forward, this option would result in annual earnings in excess of $250,210 per annum.
    In either case (Contract or Fee-for-Service), a relocation reimbursement is offered for eligible expenses incurred within 12 months of relocation, to a maximum of CAD$80,000. As well, a one-time lump sum payment of CAD$30,000 will be provided, conditional upon signing a Return of Service agreement wherein the Physician commits to providing the services described above, and residing in this community, for a period of five years.
    A competitive rate of overhead will be charged by the IERHA and will be applicable to either compensation model.
